Unable to add different Gear (shoe) to Activity

I have many running activities logged in Connect over the years.

I have recently added a list of all my running shoes in the Gear section and set 1 to the default. I am not trying to backtrack and add my shoes to my previous runs.

When I open an activity and want to add a shoe that is NOT the default, I cannot see any other shoe option in the Gear selection list.

If I go to Manage Gear, I do see all my shoe options, I just cant add any other shoe option (if that makes sense)

I even tried removing the default option from the shoe but it seems that Connect only sees that shoe.

It happens on the iOS app as well.

(There seems to be much older threads with the same issue, just resurrecting the topic)

WIth this issue, it seems feutile to try and track my Gear (shoe) usage.

  • Please note, that you cannot assign a piece of gear to an activity which predates the date of first use for that piece of gear. So for example if your activity was on December 1, 2020, and your shoe's date of first use is January 1, 2022, then you cannot assign those shoes to that activity.

  • Thank you so much. That makes absolute sense. I have deleted, and re-added my gear (because the First Use date is not editable) with the correct start dates and now I see I can select alternatives for my historic activities.
