Garmin Reported Stolen

Hi Everyone

I bought a Garmin fenix 6X Pro Solar from a lady secondhand. The watch was basically brand new.

I used it for over a year with no issues

Recently the watch stopped syncing to my phone and I was unable to upload my activities. I also can't connect to Garmin express on my laptop.

I eventually sent the device to Garmin SA to have it repaired or replaced.

The technician sadly notified me the device was reported stolen and the serial number was wiped from the Garmin data-base hence its not working anymore.

I am still waiting for them to send the watch back to me.

I now own a very fancy looking watch only to check the time.

Is there anyway I can get this resolved?

The person who sold me the watch clearly wanted a second payout from her insurance and now I am stuck with it. I am unable to get hold of her

Thanks in advance for any responses

The only way I can imagine is a civil lawsuit. Consult a lawyer.

If you bought it through eBay or a similar website, report it there. If paid by Paypal, and you send them the evidence about it been reported stolen, you may have some chance to get a refund, although I am not sure whether the protection lasts that long. Review the terms & conditions.

  • With more expensive things, good to get a proof of purchase with a serial number, original from a store where it was first bought, or at least on a written agreement from a seller. Internet trading platforms where those data can be entered and saved should be ok too, then make a local copy of it.

In case of problems, make a claim, in this case, for legal defects.

As mentioned - at first try thought a platform where bought if still possible, then by e-mail, then try standard mail. If seller won't react to any, then you need to make a civil lawsuit.
