Calculation of V02 Max and training status stopped after several years

Been running and cycling for several years with V02 Max and training status has been updating ok. Last month calculation of V02 Max stopped and training status shows no status.

Currently just running and cycle (smart trainer) with chest HRM, pool swim no HRM. Also a few indoor bike activities which use Fenix5 HRM.

The indoor bike activities started recently.

Watch is linked to 1 account. I have a back up watch linked which is not used, which I recently powered up after Fenix5 locked up completely for several hours, no time update, would not power off or respond to any button press. Eventually came back to life on its own (wd reset?). No idea if any of this relates to the training status/V02 max update issue which started st same time.

  • Having same issue on Forerunner 945. Cycling, swimming, and running, but suddenly no training status. Only have 1 Garmin device paired to phone. Tried unpairing, etc. No luck.

  • Noticed in garmin connect that my training zones (HR) had been automatically updated based on bad heart rate data (spike in HR data looks like it was used to recalculate zones based on max HR of 198, reset to realistic max HR and training status now updating. Can't find where to stop garmin automatically updating HR zones though.
