Calories burned

If I record walking activity let's say 1 hour it will count 6000 steps and 350/400 calories. But if I do not record walking activity but I have also had 6000 steps these calories do not sum up on my daily count. How is this possible? Do I need to have walking activity always on when I am moving around (for example at work) just so I could get my actual daily calories count right?

  • Hello .  The calories will still count toward your "Active" calories burned whether you record an activity or not.  However, if you do not record an activity, any calories burned will never be classified as "Activity" calories.  Please see the FAQ below:

  • Thank you for your answer. I do understand what you mean by that. What I am saying is, even if I am doing same things on different days. One day I will record one hour walking activity but the other day where I am walking the same distance but do not start the activity (still wear watch when walking) then these calories do not even go to Total daily calories. So what I am asking is not active calories but is the watch capable of counting extra calories while walking but I have not turned on walking activity? Why I am asking this is because I see calories difference between these days I have not turned on the activity. Some days when steps count go up to 20k you can see difference of more than 650-700 calories not on daily totalcompared to days when these 20k steps are recorded as activity.

  • For best results, recording an activity on the watch is best.  You may also consider the Move IQ feature on your watch as well.
