Manually edit or set lap distance for indoor track

I realize folks have been asking for this for 12 years, does anyone at Garmin look at this stuff? The auto lap doesn't work because no gps inside. So I run 325m laps (about .2 mi) and press the lap button when I come around. The lap length is close, sometimes .2 mi sometimes .25 (a fifth vs a quarter so divergent enough to screw up pace and distance). I'd like to be able to pre-set the lap length or be able to edit the lap length in the Garmin app after the fact. Any chance?

  • I checked indoor activities and actually I have auto laps for some.

It depends which profile you choose.

Also, there are laps for activities with workouts, so for example I have laps for 20 min each, probably if you choose another workout then it would be by distance.

  • Yes, the auto lap is there, but the distance measurement is inaccurate because it can either choose gps (none indoors) or count my steps -- which is impossible to make work because I am trying to run with a specific cadence so my step length will vary based on speed.  The only way for me to make laps work is by manually pressing the lap button.  This helps me keep track of many laps for long runs indoors (trying to marathon train in a snowy climate), but the distance is off in the app with no way to fix it.  The lap I'm doing does have a set distance but the watch has no way to figure it out.

  • Would be very practical for indoor ice skating as well...
