Syncing Weight Data from Renpho scale to The Garmin app.

Hi,

I have a Samsung Phone s9+ with Samsung Health app.  I wish to sync my weigh data from my Renpho scale back Into Garmin.

Currently I have the following syncs

WEIGHT

Renpho>Samsung Health

Renpho> MFP

CALORIES

MFP > Garmin

But not sure how to get weight into Garmin

  • Hi, I installed this app on my secondary phone and it indeed works and syncs this extra data with Garmin Connect. Thanks a lot :)

  • Yes, I was using weight logger for quite a while, over a year, before I got my own Tcl script working.

I get the same info across as WeighLogger, but I don't have to manually type in all the data from Renpho into WeightLogger, so much easier for me now.

  • You need to link Renpho data to Fitbit - then Fitbit to Myfitnesspal - then Myfitnesspal back to Garmin.

In my experience it works most of the time but there are days when it doesn't work.

From time-to-time, I've relinked the accounts to get it going again.

  • Why Fitbit? I do Renpho -> MyFitnessPal -> Garmin and occassionally I have to reconnect them as well. Maybe one day a Garmin scale but that's quite expensive. The Renpho was and is way cheaper.

  • Good question. This was my setup from 3 years ago based on the 5th post in this thread.

I'm not sure if it was possible to link Renpho directly to MFP back then when I set it up or if the proper data didn't pass without Fitbit. Certainly, it's worth a try to skip that step. I will.

  • I got this from ChatGPT.

Renpho officially integrated with MyFitnessPal in January 2022. This partnership enables users to link their Renpho devices, like smart scales, directly with MyFitnessPal, allowing seamless syncing of weight, nutrition, and other biometric data for a more comprehensive wellness experience

  • I managed to write my own Tcl program to gather the CSV data exported from the Renpho app, converts it to a different format CSV file compatible with the Garmin FitSDK (which you can download from this site somewhere). Then a simple script to invoke the SDK to convert the new CSV file to a FIT file.  (You need to install Java on your PC too for the SDK to work).  I now get the following from Renpho to Garmin Connect:

Weight, Body Fat%, Skeletal Muscle mass, Bone Mass, body water%, visceral fat and metabolic age.

I could send the Tcl file that does the CSV to CSV conversion and the simple script, but you'd need to install Tcl (from Activestate), the Garmin SDK  & Java.

  • I'd appreciate that Tcl file and the script... plus maybe some more detailed instructions on how to use it (the high-level instructions sounds simple enough but I know once I try to do it I'll be stomped by something that doesn't seem so obvious anymore. lol). I think I'd continue with the app sync method for a hands-off transfer of the basic data but maybe I'd do this more involved method a couple times a month. I wonder how Garmin uses this additional data?

  • I just discovered that the reason I never knew that there was an option to push data directly to MFP -> Garmin, without Fitbit was because I was still using a discontinued version of the Renpho app (at least that's the situation on Android). So for those under a rock like I was, they are switch from "Renpho" to "Renpho Health" (same publisher) and the new app seems to have a few new 3rd party connectivity options. However, unfortunately, Garmin Connect isn't one of them. IN my "discovery session" I also noticed that they support "Health Connect" which basically acts a sync hub to share fitness/health data to a bunch of other apps/platforms. Again, unfortunately Garmin isn't on that list but it seems like a great place for Garmin to jump in.
