Manual activities (file uploads from Virtual, indoor Cycling) are not considered in Training Status

When I upload my manual activities, with full spectrum of data from turbotrainer, i.e. RGT or other - those do appear properly within activities, yet totally excluded from Training status.

It's not really important, but I guess this is a bug as Training status is totally off suggesting that there's detraining, where's there must be something around maintaining or even improvement (it's winter, hence rather expecting to see maintenance).

Also found that for some reason gxp files are no longer accepted by garmin connect (web)

I guess it's not just for me.

  • so it looks like the Garmin Server may actually calculate the Training Status.

Yes, that's correct. It is the Training Load and Training Effect that must be calculated on the device or by the 3rd party service. The Acute Training Status It the a weighted sum of the Training Load for the last 10 days, and the Training Status a summary.

If your service already stores the TE and TL data in the FIT file, then all they need to do is getting a certification from Garmin, in order to get their data included too, just like the other approved 3rd party services. It is comprehensible Garmin will not use data, if the 3rd party service did not agree to Garmin's terms, and did not guarantee using the same algorithm as Garmin, to assure the conformity of the data.

  • As Zwift is now compatible with Garmin's Training effect and updates acute load  after being sent across etc.. I've stopped using my Garmin Edge in parallel with Zwift training which is great. Unfortunately a couple of days ago Zwift servers had a melt down and delayed saving  and sending activities. At the time I wasn't aware of the issue and thought the .fit file hadn't been uploaded so I took the Zwift .fit file and manually uploaded it to Garmin Connect. All the data was there it shows the training effect in the activity it's listed in the "Exercise Load" but it hasn't incremented the "Load Focus" or increased the "Acute Load" This normally works fine when Zwift sends it over to the Garmin servers. The Zwift server finally registered the Activity on their server some 3 hours later. Is it possible for me to delete my activity I manually uploaded to Garmin and get Garmin to sync the activity with Zwift as normal hopefully dating everything?

Yes, of course, you can delete any activity, but I do not know whether the activity will then be synced from Zwift again. Try it, and yo will see. If Zwift does not sync it, you can always import it back manually again.
