Garmin Web Connect Heartrate day insight

Hi!

So I have 2 Garmin products, Vivoactive 4S & Edge 1030+. When I have a look at Garmin connect  web, It uses the wrong max heart rate for that day but it shows correctly in my activity.

For everyday use, I just use my watch but for my bike rides I just don't record with my watch, but with my head unit with sensors, power/hrm/cadence...

https://imgur.com/a/QdNrklp as you can see the max heart rate doesn't match. Does anyone know how I can fix this or is this normal?  If it recognized the activity it can just use that data I guess? Maybe i need to turn off move IQ? so it uses the head unit data?

Also, is there an auto-sync interval I can check or set up for when the watch uploads data (not activities, just wellness data) to the app? For now, it only seems to work when I open the app on my phone or when the day ends? Can anyone give some info about this aswell?

  • The daily heart rate is what you activity tracker measures so that should be the Vivoactive 4S with optical heart rate reading.

To get better results it should work if you start an activity on the Vivoactive during your bike workout and then discard it afterwards. It will then use the HRM to measure your HR.

  • Do i also need to pair my HRM to my watch then or only to my head unit?

  • You need to pair with both if you want to use the HRM. Otherwise it uses optical HR.

  • Okay, so I've tried this. It seems way better now I think, but it isn't quite right. There is one heart rate spike, I was doing a 5sec effort  - 184 on watch -  193 on head unit. All of the other data seems pretty much in sync. I've linked my HRM to watch and head unit.

Then I've started the activity on the watch and head unit. When I was done I just discarded it on the watch and saved it on the head unit. This was correct yeah? or do I need to save on the watch as well and then discard it on the web app?

  • That is how I would do it. Discard on the watch. If you upload it to Garmin Connect and then delete it, it would affect the values in Connect incorrectly.
