Marathon Badge not rewarded

The problem is likely the file type and maybe also the device that logged the activity. In January this year Garmin tightened the rules a bit and now you must use a FIT file to get badges. Before the change you could use TCX and GPX files.

To get your badges back you need to convert your GPX files to FIT files, add a Garmin device if it hasn't already got one and then import those FIT files.

It costs some money but it is well worth it if you need to edit your data or convert between file types.

Editing an activity makes it re-check badges. So, after changing a title, badges disappear, and after short while re-appear - if current conditions for them are met. So, you can earn some missing badges this way (for example: marathon done before current badges were added), but also lose some.

Other option to get the badge back, is to record any activity using a watch (can be short), and manually edit it to match your run. Of course this won't display the path, but should get the badge.

Thank you so much for your quick response. It all makes sense to me now. I tried many different converters to get an FIT file from an old gpx, but Garmin never accepted the file. At the end I recorded a 10s Run with my Forerunner945 and reajusted the information to my both finished marathons. It´s not perfect, but I´m very happy now. Thanks again. Have a good time. These two files are my old fashioned Runtastic gpx files recorded with my phone (old times before my Garmin watch). Would need to convert them into FIT Files, which would be accepted and working in Garmin Connect.

Do you have a preferred Garmin device that I can associate with the converted FIT files?

Looks like we got the badge. 

And Chicago (brings back memories) - Chicago42-fixed.fit

On both of these I had to change to activity type "Running," add the 945 as the device, and recalculate distance values based on GPS distance values (otherwise would have been zero for distance).
