Menu items edit/star/share/lock missing on activity imported using tcx / can not change gear

For two day now I have a problem with activities imported from a tcx file. There are two obvious problems, the first problem is that the icons

for edit/star/share/lock functions are not displayed in the chrome browser (Windows and Android) and for this reason it is impossible to edit the data in Garmin Connect Web, the data can be edited in Garmin Connect Android. The second problem is that there is no gear indication and gear can not be changed.

I just noticed that ALL historic imported activities show the same problem, even the activities I edited recently.

I found the issue. The problem is not upload files. The problem is the Creator tag in the TCX file. If it isn't Garmin device the controls will be missing. Add a creator tag and it will work.

It is working for me. Check if reloading the page without browser cache solves it. Also check for javascript errors in the console. Those controls load asynchronously.

Currently cannot export any activities that were originally uploaded in tcx format. Suggest contacting Garmin using the Garmin Support Center - https://support.garmin.com

All my older activities that were recorded on a Garmin device and uploaded as tcx files (before the .fit format existed) have this problem. For example https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/8508644 which was recorded on a Forerunner 305 in 2006.

Unfortunately that is not the problem. The problem exists using Chrome under Windows and Android, Dolphin under Android, Chromium under Raspberry OS, Internet Explorer 11 under Windows 7. Should I try the Samsung browser ? Sorry, I do not have any system from apple available to check.

I think they removed it intentionally. That's not a bug. Browser does not matter.

What is working for you? Try to upload .fit or .tcx with your browser (don't use auto sync device tools) and try again.

Here is one for an Edge 1030. I've removed my UnitId since it isn't required.

For FIT files it is problaby the same. Add a Garmin device and it might work: https://www.fitfiletools.com/#/changer#view

So it looks like the blocked it intentionally. Devices other than Garmin are blacklisted with limited functionality. Fit file is binary file and there's no easy way to change device creator tag
