Completed step goal - Garmin deleted 4000+ steps

Today I ran, took multiple walks, and reached my daily step goal as I have been doing. A couple of hours later, I glanced down at my watch and see that it is at about 4,000 steps less than it was when I reached my goal.

Does anyone know what happens when this occurs? I have two Garmin watches, and I make sure to synch them with the app when I switch between wearing them. Nothing has ever pointed to this being an issue before.

  • By any chance could your watch have crashed? The one and only time this ever happened to me was when it crashed midday and I lost data up to that point. I also recall that were some threads a few months ago with similar issues.

  • Thanks for your thoughts! No watch crashes yesterday, plus everything had been uploaded into the app correctly so it looks like the steps were deleted out if the app, and then the watches synced and showed the same total steps as the app.

  • To add to the confusion, this morning I had 4200+ steps already completed when I woke up! Smiley That's pretty close to the total number of steps I had lost the previous evening.

  • Then check whether your account hasn't somehow changed time zones. Your watch much think it's tomorrow before it is. Check it every step of the way from web Connect to GCM to user and device settings, and also on the watch itself.
