Historical data is missing in the Garmin connect app. On My Day I can see the steps count, but clicking on the histogram show a step count of 0 for the last 6 weeks including the present day.

Toggle the activity tracking (turn off and on) and restart the watch.
That worked for the data today, but the data from yesterday to two months back are still missing.
You could try with Garmin Express and see if that syncs the old data.
The fix here was probably to restart the watch. Toggling might not have any effect.
As soon as you experience any issues with the watch you should just restart it. I restart my watch every week just in case.
Did you ever get this fixed? My app started doing this today. Restarting my watch didn’t do anything.
I restarted my watch and phone and it started to log data again. I never manage to recover the missing data.
