Garmin connect calendar shows no events on google calendar

I followed the steps to connect Garmin Connect calendar to Google Calendar and I see no events.  I did this nearly a week ago.

This is the public google calendar with nothing in it

This is the Garmin published calendar, with lots of events in it

Why isn't it working, any ideas? Have I missed something?  I've seen a few other people with same issue, but I think I've tried all that's been suggested and waiting way longer than 24hours for it to sync...

As a side note, I have successfully connected to office365 (i.e. Outlook) - but I don't use that calendar, so it's no use to me.  This worked straight away.

  • Note: I also just imported the .ics file and it shows 0 of 0 events imported.  So that didn't work either.

I contacted support via chat and was given the following steps, if this fails they said they will raise a ticket

Session started between Mohamed and Leticia. Please give me a moment to look into your issue and I will be right with you.

Tootington:I've had no reply to issue I raised on the forums, could somebody take a look or explain why Google calendar doesn't sync with Garmin connect calendar? forums.garmin.com/.../garmin-connect-calendar-shows-no-events-on-google-calendar

Mohamed:Thanks for that, so we are aware of some reports of this issue and the engineers recommend you follow the below steps initially: 1. Unpublish the Connect Calendar in Connect
    2. Remove the Connect Calendar from the Google Calendar
    3. Publish the Connect Calendar in Connect again
    4. Add the Connect Calendar to the Google Calendar again

But after trying that still can't see any events on google calendar.  Also when I try to import the .ical file to google calendar the result is 0 of 0 events imported, just like before.

  • This DID NOT WORK.  Still get no updates to google calendar from garmin calendar.

  • Hi - I had exactly the same issue - called into Garmin support and the person has not notes on this problem and no steps to follow - she claimed she was going to reach out and try to find some answers, but so far, nada.   Looks like this has been a problem for a while as some of these comments go back 4 years ...

FYI ...I don't think you are doing anything wrong, I had EXACTLY the same experience and did all the steps about 10 times to make sure I was not missing anything, even tried a few variations to see if I could make it work ... no luck.

Super annoying as my life is on GOOGLE calendar and I'm training for a big climb in Jan and having all my Garmin data posted into my Google calendar would be a huge benefit to me ... seems like its something they could have figured out.

  • I am having the same issues exactly. I also tried having a chat and their reaction was as if I was the first person to have this issue. are you anywhere close to finding a solution this problem?

  • No luck ... tech support does not appear to understand that many of us use Google calendars ... or I least I think some of us do ... they had zero suggestions and zero follow-ups other than it was a google problem and I should call them ... I explained that i had no difficulty using the URL link with other calendars (e.g. my kid's schools post-school events the same way, moon phases, tour de France and Le Mans calendars, etc.) so I doubt it was a google issue since I had no difficulty importing other sources of calendar data from other third parties... I spent hours taking screenshots and trying to give them as much user experience information for them to troubleshoot it .. no luck ...

  • do you know if anyone has asked them to issue a new URL of the published calendar? this thought just came to my mind just trying to think outside the box. or maybe "reset" the account

  • good idea - I'm dropping my son at college this weekend - but will try them next week and report back to this thread if I get any success

  • I made a small work-around to make it work in Google Calendar.
    1. I shared my Calendar with O356. (free version - with a Microsoft account).

    2. Checked that it syncs and that my entries are displaying.

    3. On Outlook(web version) i went to "settings" -> "Calendar" -> "Shared Calendars"

    4. Under Publish a calendar i selected the Garmin Connect Calendar and clicked the publish button.

    5. Copied the HTML link and added it back in Google Calendar as a new calendar.

    6. My Garmin Connect calendar is now displaying in Google Calendar.

  • Hi Shawn Botha, this work around it is a proxy, and not a solution. I think Garmin need to fix this. I have the same issue and it is not normal to use third party companies in order to get expected behavior.

  • When you share to Google Calendar you only get the planned workouts for 30 days a head. You will not get historic activities. That is how it is designed.

"Only workouts and events will be published. Additional data such as activities, notes, and weight logs are not published."

Workouts are planned training. Activities are historic training.
