Forerunner 235 won't upload thru USB

Hi. Ever since the last update my watch won't upload my runs to my PC thru the USB cable. The computer knows it's there, It still charges the watch thru the cable, but when I go to the Garmin Express menu it says "add device". Any ideas on what I can do? Thanks

Yes, that's the point where I'm having problems, the PC won't find the watch. I'm using the original cable, different ports, I've uninstalled and re-installed Connect, re- booted the watch...

Ok. You said the computer knows it is there, but it doesn't know. It is only charging. I would start by checking the pins on the cable and the contacts on the watch and clean them. If that doesn't work I would test with a different cable.

Can't you use the Garmin Connect app to upload your runs?

Hi- actually I did manage yesterday to upload my runs to my daughter's cell phone (she's much more tech- savvy than me!). As for the PC, it still doesn't work, even though I did buy a new cable and try with that. Guess I'll just stick with using the phone. Thanks for answering my question!

Just to be clear, are you seeing an error message similar to this?

Latest version 7.7 was released yesterday.

Hi, no, after I uninstall and re-install Express, it says add device, I connect the usb and watch to the PC, search for the watch, and the PC never finds it

For USB devices, good to check the Device Manager (Windows) and select View -> Show hidden.

A device should be listed in Disk drives, if it was connected to few ports, then there will be a few entries. Sometimes removing them all, and connecting a device for fresh driver install fixes some problems.

For 235 it's named: Garmin FR235 Flash USB Device.

You can also check if you can browse its disk through the Computer icon.

And for Express, to be sure it's a clear install, after uninstall, you can manually remove settings files if some left, somewhere like C:\ProgramData\ or just entering its name into search box.
