Courses - difficult to adjust

Hi,

I've got a course in Garmin that came from an activity I did, but I'd like to tidy up that course to remove some unnecessary routing.

In the pic I just want to go from A to B, dispensing with the messy bit above where I was actually wandering around some waterfalls.

Wherever I click to try and do this the routing totally redoes large parts of the rest of the map, whether I have follow popularity routing or freehand selected.

It's a real shame there isn't a "cut segment" facility where you mark A and B and it cuts everything in between.

Can anyone help?

While I'm here, the mobile version doesn't have a "freehand" option which sometimes makes it impossible to draw a route because it refuses to continue routing, like there is some sort of block.

If you could share a link to the activity, we might be able to assist. Garmin Connect Web is best for freehand routes and fixing course points. Also, you might try importing your activity to https://www.plotaroute.com. I find this is one of the best non-Garmin sites for creating courses and fixing the details of existing courses.

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/42340451 thats the course - I've managed to sort it with mapometer (I've saved it under a new course so not this one) but its a regular issue I get and it's really frustrating.

This is another good example. At the 10 mile marker I just want to drag that to meet the popularity routing - when I drag it to the right place it works but it also adjusts the course further on and takes 2 miles off the route. connect.garmin.com/.../64460455

If you're using Garmin Connect for this, you might find it easier to start with adding a course point on each side of where you want the changes to be made. When you drag the route to the desired position (popularity route), the 2 course points will keep it anchored. Hope that makes sense.
