Edit button missing

The icons that should be in upper right with edit button, star button, share button, etc. is missing today in my Activities view, so I'm unable to edit any activities, e.g. change activity type. This is seen both with Edge and Firefox browser.

Anyone else seeing this - is it a temporary issue?

  • Just edited some activity using Firefox and the options are still there.

If you want to change only a type, then you can also click small arrow after type's name without entering edit mode.

If for some reason edit is not visible, you can manually change link:
    /modern/activity/manual/ACTIVITY-ID/edit

Just to make sure, you've opened an activity so you're just viewing one and not your list of activities or your main dashboard. You also need to be logged in, otherwise you'll see a stripped down version without the edit button. A screenshot would be helpful.

  • Thanks seilogramp, the reason is as you pointed out that I was viewing the list of activities and not an individual activity, thought you could/should trigger the edit directly from there without first opening the activity (that would save several clicks). But opening the activity gets the buttons to show up.

(Have ~500 activities imported from SportsTracks that are not categorized, it will be an unmanageable amount of activities to hand edit).

  • You don't have to click Edit on the activity to change the activity type from Uncategorized to something else. Just click on "Uncategorized" in upper left corner when viewing the activity and change to the correct type.

To only set the correct activity type for 500 activities will take 1-2 hours. You will probably also be able to set the title during that time. I would do that job by dividing it into chunks of 10 minutes and do those during my morning meetings. In two weeks time it will be done.

Ctrl/Cmd click 10-20 activities to get each in a new tab and when all of them have finished loading change the activity type and maybe the title if you like. Rinse and repeat.

  • Thanks e7andy, unfortunately that is not correct though. You can change the category through quick edit on the Activity list directly, IF but only IF it already has a category, but not if it's Uncategorized... (Which is stupid really).

  • Yes. That is why I said that you need to open the activity.

If the activity type is set you can't change to any other activity type. You can only change to a sub type of the main type. That means for exampel that you can't change from running to cycling. So the edit possibilities from the activity list are very limited.

Maybe write a script basing on: How to batch edit uploaded activities?.

  • Hey guys, I just noticed this same issue on my walk (post ride) to cool down which was uploaded from a vivosmart 4.  It shows the activity, but not only are the edit icons missing, but so are the charts that are normally below the activity.  I think something might be up with Connect right now.

    Running Chrome.

I *CAN* edit it with using the link mentioned by @BunBun! below, but it's still missing the normal charts, like pace, HR, etc.

Wild.  And a little disappointing.  But... such is Garmin.  Smiley

  • Thanks BunBun - yes, I was thinking this and found that thread earlier today and another one that apparently has built an even more extensive script at is there a way to change activity category in a large batch? - Garmin Connect Web - Mobile Apps & Web - Garmin Forums . However right now, I've noticed another issue I want to see if there's a solution to with regards to inaccurate climb data, because if it involves reloading the old activities, I don't want to have spent time correcting them first, see my recent post Extreme smoothing of climb data in imported generic GPX files - Garmin Connect Web - Mobile Apps & Web - Garmin Forums
