Garmin forerunner 225 calorie count off?!

I have an old Garmin forerunner 225. Lately, my running calories seem to be way off. I did a 10.5 mile run in 1:54 minutes. Garmin connect deducted that I burned 650 calories. could that be at all possible? My last several runs have shown my per mile calorie count at only 60! When I plug my estimated calorie count into running apps with my weight, time, and pace, the number is way higher.

My stats:

F 43

Height: 5'6

Weight: 122

Max HR: 255 (professionally calculated, but wondering if it's kind of high-- I go above 220 often on hard workouts)

Besides that, and besided your body parameters, Garmin uses the heart rate and the HR Variability for calculating the burned Calories. So, a malfucntioning HRM could be also a reason for inaccurate results. Read more on that topic in the support document The Heart Rate Sensor on My Garmin Watch Is Not Accurate. You can try using a chest strap HRM for better accuracy.

Read more about the methods for calculating the Calories in the whitepaper of Firstbeat, the provider of the technology:

An Energy Expenditure Estimation Method Based on Heart Rate Measurement

    Max HR: 255

That's really high! Do you suffer from the Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia (PSVT) or another cardiac issue? That could perhaps interferre with the metods used for the calculation, because I'd tell it is a bit outside of the common range, and especialy the HR Variability (HRV) may be quite different at persons with certain cardiac issues. It is mentioned for example in another whitepaper from Firstbeat that tachycardia may affect the HRV, and might thus bias analysis results: Firstbeat Lifestyle Assessment (see for example the chapter 3.6)
