Create Segment from device/phone and personal ranking with privacy set to only me

I have two questions about Garmin segment.

1) is it possible to create from device (1030 plus) or from mobile app while riding (a sort of "here start the segment...here ends") instead from web? I want to create a segment on a downhill track that is in the dense forest and from map/satellite view  I cannot recognize exactly the start and stop point (it is a relative short track, so even a little error in positioning could lead to different times).

I have taken on device Lap (split) times but on web if I click on the lap I don't see on the map highlighted.

2) (more important)... because I have the privacy set to "me only" (I ride on ebike and often in turbo, so I don't want a stupid useless KOM) I don't see my times in different days on the same segment.

I would like to compare different setup of the bike and watch the times on same segment, but without to set Privacy to ALL.

Is it possible ?

    As far as I know you can create segments only with the web version of Garmin Connect. However, I do not quite understand what the problem is with not seeing the lap on the map. Of course, if the track was not recorded (for example due to the loss of GPS signal), then you cannot create a segment from it. Either use another activity, where the track was properly recorded, or you can also create such track manually, save it a FIT file and import it into Garmin Connect Web, and then converting it to a segment there. This is possible for example with the free service at plotaroute.com, which supports the Garmin-native FIT file format - I did it myself exactly in this way, so I can confirm it works.

    On the other hand you can also use Strava Segments, so if you find it easier, use that way.

    Otherwise, if you do not make your rides public, you will indeed see them in your own ranking, without cluttering the public leaderboards.

    1) I was making a screenshot trying to explaining better my situation, while I saw the checkbox "LAP" upper-left (never saw).. That's what's I need.

    2) another mistake... didn't see that under Leaderboard there is a dropdown with "Me only" option

    I feel so stupid!!! But without writing (and reading you) I will never found.  Thanks a lot
