Corrupt Fit File

Dear fellow Garmin users,

Yesterday I recorded a run on my Fenix 6, but the activity wouldn't sync to Garmin Connect on my mobile. When I tried to sync it via Garmin Express on my PC it said the file was corrupted. The watch shows the activity correctly, but it will not upload to Garmin Connect.

I tried to use the Fit File Repair Tool, which gave me the message "The recording ended abruptly and without the expected sumary record. Probably data records at the end of the recording are missing. I couldn't figure out how to fix the file using the tool tho.

Can someone fix the file?

Thank you!!!

If that is the only error  and you have paid for a license for Fit File Repair Tool, you would simply click the export button and the file  will be automatically repaired.

This is what I did and it repaired your file - 2021-04-02-16-01-03-fixed.fit

Import into Garmin Connect using the import data page

For fit files that are simple fixes, such as this, you can also use the free online FIT File Tools. Use the section remover without any changes.

Some tips to help minimize the occurrence of corrupt fit files:

    • Keep the number of files in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder on the device’s file system to a minimum using these directions: Removing Recorded Activities on a Garmin Fitness Device If you delete the files in your activity folder with a Mac computer, then empty the trash folder before you unplug your device from the computer.
    • Try to avoid excessive button presses during your activity.
    • Regularly check for firmware updates using Garmin Express
    • If issues with corrupt files persist, contact Garmin Support.
  • THANK YOU!!! And thanks for the info. I'll be able to resolve it myself next time!
