Adding Sleep Category to Garmin Connect/Garmin Edge 530

I use my Garmin Edge 530 to record my heart rate while sleep and to record how long I slept.

Can Garmin please add this to Garmin Connect and add it to Garmin Edge 530 type devices.  I use the data not just to tell what my next workout should be like but I also want to share the data with my doctor who needs a "general picture" to see what my heart is doing.

Also is it possible to share the data just as I would with MS Drive and Google Drive?  With MS and Google you can send a link to whom ever and they can only see what's in the link.  I am sure this would be of benefit in other situations.

I would be able to share the data with those not subscribed to GC and limit what I share.

I hope you can make this a reality.

  • You can achieve what you are asking for (both, recording the HR during the sleep, and sharing it with others), in the following way:

    • Create a custom activity profile on your Edge, called for example "Sleep". You can disable the GPS in that profile, to save the battery
    • Start the Sleep activity when going to bed, and stop it when waking up
    • Sync the device
    • You can now view the detailed HR in Garmin Connect, and you can share the sleep "activity" with your doctor as well

Better yet, get a watch supporting the advanced sleep analysis and PulseOx. The sleep analysis then includes also breathing patterns, O₂ saturtion levels, sleep stages (deep / light / REM / ... ), the movements, and also the stress levels. Possibly more valuable data for your doc, I'd tell.
