GPX file partial download with Connect Garmin website.

Dear Garmin team,

Dear users,

Not possible to download and import gpx file 4,153kb (velomaritime tour in France) into Connect Garmin website.

Only the first 16 km tour appear...

Is it normal?

Does Connect Garmin is limited with the weight of file?

Many thanks for your help and support.

Maxime.

  • You have not reached the limit I have the Appalachian trail saved as a course. GPX file is 17.2 mb (17,200 kb) [https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/53613609]

Can you post a link to the GPX file or zip and attach it here?

  • The file size is indeed not a problem, but there is a limit of waypoints and trackppints per course / route:

From [Track, Route, and Waypoint Limits for the Garmin Explore Website]

    Track, Route, and Waypoint Limits

    • Routes 200 points
    • Tracks 10,000 points
      • Track points are saved as needed and are based on speed, distance, and direction.
    • Waypoints 500 per import

It means, you may need to reparse the GPX, removing exces waypoints or trackpoints. You will certainly find tools on the web capable to do it. If not, you'll have to split the course into several parts.

  • ... on the other hand, the document writes about limits for the Explore website. I just speculated that the same limits apply to Garmin Connect. And possibly placing the file directly on the watch might work too. If not in the GPX format, then perhpas in the FIT format (you can export a route in Garmin's native FIT format for example at plotaroute.com)
