Malformed FIT file wont upload

As is often the case with deleted files that are recovered, this one is corrupted virtually beyond any usable state.

The file is 582 KB of which 580 KB is corrupt leaving this  - 2021-03-29-09-55-34-fixed.fit

580216 bytes of the file are corrupted and could not be repaired.

The recording ended abruptly and without the expected summary records. Probably data records at the end of the recording are missing.

Even the Y2K38 problem is showing up on this one. 

The recording contains 6 records with a timestamp from 2038. This indicates problems synchronizing the GPS signal at the beginning of the recording.

Does that mean I can't get the file corrected in any way? Ohh, it was a 200k ride..
Is there any way I can prevent this from happening in the future?

If you have other files that could be stitched together with this one, then it might be possible, but what you attached is hosed.

Some tips to help minimize the occurrence of corrupt fit files:

• Remove history from your device or do a factory reset.
• Try to avoid excessive button presses during your activity.
• Regularly check for firmware updates using Garmin Express
• The Edge 500 is 12 years-old, so not sure if any of the above will do much good. Consider a new Garmin Edge device.
