Workouts wont sync to watch

I have a garmin 410 and when trying to upload a workout to the device the device says transfer complete but no data passes across and the advanced workouts are empty. Sporadic sync issues as well but generally my activities transfer from watch to garmin connect ok, its just seems to be the other way is the issue.

tried all the usual fixes...

Very annoying

Will

  • I indeed experienced the same problem. As LIAM3001, I cleared all user data. It didn't solve the problem.

I also tried to come back to a prior version of Garmin Express but once installed, it asked me to download the latest version.

I also mention that I own two Forerunner 410 watches and both encounter the same problem.

Contact support https://support.garmin.com Chat or call for faster service.

  • My local garmin support was not very informative. Ultimately the solve was buy a new watch!!!

Some people seeing shutdown exception errors now with latest GE version, as I am and I'm wondering of its related

  • Mine was not very informative as well. They did not find the solution ("Forerunner 410 ? But it's an old watch !" I must call them again on Monday...

I have got two Forerunner 410 watches. With one of them, I experienced some reboots while running.

More information on Monday... Buying a new watch might be the only solution... :-(

  • Just some further update here, I factory reset the watch no help, removed GE fully with registry cleaner etc and reinstalled older version no help.

Bar changing the ANT stick I cant do any more, this is really very very annoying

  • Hi

Benoit, any update from customer support on your side?

  • Hello,

Sorry for the slang words but it sucks ! They provided me with a webupdater that didn't recognize my watch. It didn't solve anything.

I installed/uninstalled Garmin Express (current or older releases) so many times that it doesn't work any more on my computer :-(.

I tried on another computer and I still can import my activities (but not my workouts of course).

The people on the phone seemed unaware of our old watch. They don't have a real solution.

No improvement on my side :-(

  • First of all, I'd double check again whether there are already some workouts on the device (Training » Workouts » Advanced), and deleting preferably all of them, or at least one. Then try rescheduling the concerned workout in Garmin Connect, and send it to the device again. Also make sure you selected only a supported type of workout, when creating it in Garmin Connect.

I do not own such device or an ANT+ stick to test it, but there are several software tools for ANT+ devices listed at [https://www.thisisant.com/developer/resources/software-tools]. So, I'd recommend testing some of them, and trying to look what is on the device in the folder //GARMIN/Workouts/, and if there are some old files in the folder, then removing them.

If the ANT+ tools allow you to access the device storage, you could place the workout FIT file there directly. You would just need sending your workout to a functional Garmin device, or asking someone with one to do it for you, and then sending you the FIT file, since I do not think it is possible to export the workout file in another way.

  • Thank you for your answer Trux but on the Forerunner 410, which is quite an old watch, you can only have ONE advanced workout at a time. In each of my watches (I own two), there is no advanced workout at all.

What do you mean with "make sure you selected only supported type of workout ?" Mine are of type "Run".

However, I will try with the pieces of software you provided... Maybe some hope...

  • What do you mean with "make sure you selected only supported type of workout ?" Mine are of type "Run".

People sometimes select a wrong type (i.e. Custom) when creating a new workout, hence the advice to double-check the right type, supported by your device, was selected.
