Lost activities

Hi, out of the blue I have lost all activities ever recorded, incl. personal records. Garmin Connect looks like I started with garmin today. Some settings remained, badges also remained, lot of settings gone and needed to be set again. Is it only temporary or have I lost all activities for ever?? I have tried to uninstall app, switch off watches, nothing helped.

  • Same as me... I have read that file about consent and in case you revoke your consent - in case you are willing to do so - Garmin has 72 hours to delete your data. So there is still hope they have them stored. May I ask you to give me info if is something new with your account? Same me.. Thank you

  • Yes. Certainly. Will keep you posted as soon as I have news. I still think there should be an additional confirmation required e.g. via email before deleting data. I‘m not aware of having clicked on any such button...but as I‘m using it often via mobile phone and this only works semi-optimal ... I don‘t know... possible, that there went something wrong ?! Which shouldn‘t be either... however. Will let you know.

  • I just received email from Garmin with:

Our engineers are reviewing your case, and have requested the following:

    1. Sign in to Account Management Center using your Garmin Connect account credentials
    2. Click Manage Your Data from the bottom of the page
    3. Click Export Your Data
    4. Click Request Data Export
    5. Your request will be submitted and a download link will be emailed to you.
    6. Download the report, and reply to this email with a copy of it.

I did so and within a few minutes I have received email with .zip file. So I sent it back to Garmin. It has 322 kB only, I hesitate if its 4 year history..? Lets see.
edit - its not all history. It seems it contains only basic credentials and few activites, probably for last two days

  • followed the same instructions - based on the info above - and had the same result... only 71 kB...browsed through the folder. information about account, cycle settings found, even some workouts etc. but activities not really... let you know if I get instructions/info re my ticket.

  • My bet is that you really accidentally created another account as  initially wrote. This is so frequent issue that I see daily a dozen cases here on the forum. The button "Sign Up" is much more dominant than the button "Sign In", hence people tend to click it without even noticing it. Sign out from the account, and log back in with your original credentials, and I bet the data will be there.

In the years I participate here on the forum I do not remember a case where someone's data would vanish in a different way than this one. Well, there is one other way I remember - at users who created their account in China, and then tried to log in in the rest of the world (or vice versa). Chinese Garmin uses their own server on a different domain (garmin.cn), beause of governmental regulations, and the two servers are not interconnected. So if you happen to be in this situation, and at certain point were using Garmin Connect in China, then that could be the reason.

  • Hi, I am not from China. And as you can read above, Garmin takes it seriously and issuie is not about two different accounts. Its confirmed now. I have only one single account.

  • I have only one single account.

Perhaps (though I still have my doubts), but it is not necessarily the case for , to whom I replied, too.

  • ... if you can share a link to one of your activities, I may perhaps try to help, identifying the culprit.

  • Hi, final words from Garmin... all data are deleted. They think, that someone (they do not name exactly me, they call it actor) logged into my account on Saturday afternoon, withdraw consent with data storage and pressed button “ delete my data” and after about hour and half later some actor gave consent back. Meanwhile lot portion of data were deleted. No hope. I am sure it was not me, I think I should remember take several steps (deleting is about several steps you have to make incl. enter your password). I would also like to think that it takes quite more time to delete all this (they have 72 hours time to do so), but I am afraid file is closed. I will try tu upload some activities back from connected apps like Strava and My firness pal, which I have synchronized with Garmin. Big disappointment :(.

  • Hi trux, thank you for your input. I'm also convinced, that I have only one account. I still see all my devices connected, my cycle profiles, even my workouts are all here... only the activities are lost....Garmin support is working on it. will wait and see. Can check again for other accounts...
