Using garmin to track Non-sport activities

I do love tracking my activities with Garmin and using it for a long time.

I need to track other things in my life with details about how much time i spend on it and to keep track of progress.

I know many apps out there but none of them feels sustainable. Garmin connect feels sustainanble data storage environment and i want to keep my non-sport activities with in garmin connect with my garmin watch.

I know that i can create custom activity types and use them for this purpose but as i see garmin connect is not designed to keep track of non-sport activities since i can not exclude any actiivity types in activity viewer with "all activities" selection.

This means if i start using garmin for tracking non-sport activities this will mess up with my data since non-sport activies will be listed under all activities, total minutes, etc....

Any ideas to flag non sport activities and seperate them? Post

Create a custom activity profile of the type "Other". In Garmin Connect, you can the see the category "Other" separated from the remaining categories. And if you need multiple types, create a several Activity profiles of the type "Other", using a unique profile name for each of them, so that you can then filter the activities by the name (i.e. showing separately "ironing" and "Gardening"). In order to allow the custom profile names to propagate into the name of the activity, you also have to change the Activity Name in you [User Profile in GC Web] to the option "Location & Device Activity Name"

  • Hey trux thanx for the info.

Did create activity with dublicating other activity type and renamed it "prepa" and set locatipn and device activity name in profile settings.

But activities of that type is listed under all activities and effect the reports and summaries.

  • All activities are indeed exactly what the name states = all activities. You cannot exclude any. However, if you want to see just your "prepa" activites, use the type "Other" as I suggested - either by creating the Activity profile from the scratch (not copying any existing sport), or by copying some of the sports of the Other category, that you do not plan to use otherwise (for example Stopwatch, Driving, Wingsuit flying, etc.). You can then run an independent report on that Category too.
