Garmin 830 corrupt file? No map shown

My Garmin 830 file from a ride shows power, HR, and distance/alti, but when I upload I get no map/route. The unit has never failed to record GPS data, and with the distance/altitude I assume it was recording still? Any way I can fix it? I tried the online FIT tool, with no luck, and I'm on a Mac so cannot use the FIT file repair tool :/

I looked at your fit file using Fit File Repair Tool. It's not corrupt, but there is no positional data (Latitude/Longitude) on any of the 6,342 timestamps. It's getting your speed data from the Garmin Speed Sensor.

Bummer, thanks for checking. And that makes sense on the speed sensor.

Never happened before, and would register gps data fine afterwards, so I had figured it was the file (and the online tool gave me an error when I uploaded it there)

So, think it could have been a fluke or should I just reset the unit to factory to make sure?

That's what I would do. Assuming you don't mind setting everything back up again.

Before resetting the watch, I'd first try again deleting the expired or corrupted EPO or CPE file from the watch, deleting old activities from the folder //GARMIN/Activity, and checking for updates with Garmin Express again, just as suggested in the documents linked by @seilogramp. I did not see yet a case where it would not work, so I think performing the master reset on the watch, and losing so all setting, is unnecessary.
