Forerunner not counting during run

As above went for a run walk which uploaded fine but my watch didn’t record any steps

Ned some more info. Which forerunner? You posted to the Mobile Windows forum, so wanted to make sure you actually have a Windows phone or if you're using Android, iPhone, or Garmin Express for Windows.

Thanks for your reply, I’m using an iPhone and have a Forerunner 45 - the steps didn’t record on the watch or app??

The steps are detected by an accelerometer, so if the watch does not move (for example when running on a treadmill and holding on the railing, or pushing a cart), the steps won't be detected.
