HR data from Swim activity not pushed in Daily Heart rate, VO2 etc

I'm equipped with Hrm swim and a 935. Hrm swim does its work, data sent to the watch and then to Garmin Connect. I can see all details in the activity.

Yet no trace of the activity on the daily heart rate, intensity minutes etc As if it never happened.

I spoke with customer service and was told that this is the design... I just struggle to believe it because all the data is in the activity, it's just a matter of pushing it to all the other functions of the app.

Isn't the Hrm data conceived to be pushed and overwrite the watch hr data? Is it a particularity of the swim activity or if I use an Hrm for running the same thing happens?

Thanks for any feedback!

The problem is that most of the features based on the HRM are processed by the device in real-time, and since there is no connection between the HRM and the watch when you swim, the data cannot be processed. Also, the data saved by the HRM does not contain the HR Variability data, which is necessary for some of the features (i.e. the VO₂max based features), so the calculation canot be retrospecively.

I am afraid Garmin won't change this system easily, and it probably won't happen any soon, and even if it happens, it is unlikely they would retrofit all existing models with the modified design.

  • Thanks for the feedback. I saw that the Hrm pro can be connected directly with Connect. Would that "solve" the issue?

Unfortunately not, since it also does not store the HR Variability. Perhaps it helps with the daily HR data, though, but I cannot tell, since I do not own it - you better ask that question on the forum for that model, where users owning the model, can confirm or deny it.
