Sudden Increase in Stress and Low Body Battery

Starting yesterday, my stress levels have been consistently high throughout the day. Yesterday’s average was 58, and it’s 56 so far today. My overall stress average has been in the mid 30s since I’ve gotten my Vivosmart 4 five weeks ago.

While asleep yesterday, my Body Battery dropped from 42 to 32, stress levels were in the 40s to 60s, and HR avg was in the upper 70s. I slept 7.5 hrs with 2:34 deep sleep and 46m REM.

While asleep today, my Body Battery flatlined at 5, my stress level started at 75 gradually dropping during the first hour then plateauing to the mid 30s, and HR started at 85 and gradually dropping to the upper 60s upon waking up. I slept 7:46 with 37m deep sleep and 1:24 REM.

The only changes I can think of is exercising a tad more than average this week, disabling auto activity tracking the same night my body battery dropped while sleeping, and working the morning shift for the first time in a while, and taking a sleep aid/antidepressant I haven’t used since last year yesterday (but not today). I did a factory reset this morning and my Body Battery immediately jumped from 5 to 50, but it dropped throughout the day and is currently 13.

  • I’m having similar problems that also started about a month ago. On the Venu watch.

  • High stress will deplete the Body Battery, that's sure, but that's also what is expected. You cannot expect the BB will recharge fully if your body is under stress. Stress depletes the BB rather quickly.

BTW,  the scientific paper [PMC4413849] tells the following about the use of antidepressants:

Our results suggest that reductions in HRV observed among depressed older adults are driven by the effects of antidepressant medications.

And lower HRV (HR Variability) indicates higher Stress level, hence the BB depletion.
