fenix 3 HR - lose distance information during the activity

I need help with my fenix 3 HR.

After five years of trouble-free use, it has recently happened to me that during the activity (running, cross-country skiing) I lose distance information on the display. I have set up automatic time measurement after one kilometer and the watch will start to pointlessly report the mileage after a few meters. When I finish an activity and upload it to Garmin Connect, it doesn't show me the total distance, but it shows me exactly where I was on the map. So I am able to get the total distance from the STRAVA. I have the latest firmware 5.60, I reset the watch to factory settings, EPO is up to date. None of this helped.

The second problem I have is that during the activity (running, hiking) my altitude starts to rise to 10,000 meters, despite the fact that he has just calibrated it according to GPS. It is set to the correct data, but suddenly it quickly rises back to 10,000 meters. A reset to factory settings partially helped with this problem. The height rises during the activity and falls back to the correct values.

  • I have /exactly/ these problems. It has become almost useless, I mean no distance and no elevation. (While still recording the track, and heart rate!?)

Can anyone help? Kubanek, let me know if you find any solution.

  • I tried to downgrade the firmware to version 5.31 beta, which I found on the Internet. Then I let the watch automatically upgrade the firmware to 5.6 and the distance measurement started working. Altitude measurements have improved a bit, but it's not ideal.

  • Thanks, will try this, then report back.

  • Ok, did find 5.13 beta. I thought you wanted to downgrade with a beta because a hard-reset keeps the firmware version, so you need a downgrade to re-install, and a beta to keep personal settings.

    1. Needed Garmin Express software on the PC to install 5.13 beta. Downgrade worked, though settings were lost.
    2. Then upgraded back to 5.6 again with Express. 3.
    3. Had to input some personal setting and re-pair with phone.
    4. Distance works again. Elevation works better than before, still not perfect.
    5. Either through the reset of the software or the reset of the user experience, everything seems to be working a little better.

    Thanks Kubanek!
