Selecting and earning badges Garmin Connect

Hi there, 


I seem to have a problem in selecting and earning new badges (or repeats). The new year starts with new challenges and possible no new to gain badges, but none of the badges are selectable. They all appear in grey-scale and cannot be added to my 'to complete' badges.

More people experiencing the same problem?
What is the catch behind not being able to select 2021 bagdes?


Running with a Garmin Forerunner 220.

Curious to know how to enlist for new badges to earn.

    Those badges are for challenges. Go to the challenges page and join them: [https://connect.garmin.com/modern/challenge]

    The description should say something like "Join this challenge..." to give you a hint that you must join a challenge.

    I guess the idea with challenges is that not everyone is interested in badges and many of these challenges requires some more effort than the usual badges so you need to opt-in to get them.

    Got that part, giving me just 8 challenges to choose from. Three within my sports-direction.

    More challenges/badges are completed and earned around me (direct friends). Those challenges are not visible nor selectable in my profile. Why just a select group to choose from? And why different than connected running mates? 

    I do like challenges and always looking for more to conquer ;-)

    The challenges are the same for everyone but there are new released every month that are available for just a month or even shorter periods. There are currently also three that runs for three months and ends in end of March. Then there will be three new ones for stage 2, stage 3 and stage 4 (periods of three months to the end of the year).

    68 badges for challenges have been released since they were launched and only 9 of them are still possible to be joined.
