My last few runs, the Vivoactive measures the run distance and pace correctly, but the map misses most of the route off.
I've removed the device and added it. Restarted my phone, restarted the app. Deleted storage space. Removed older training logs

Which model of Vivoactive? Does it have a built in GPS, or does it use a Connected GPS of the phone? However, I believe all Vivoactive models do have a built-in GPS, hence removing/adding the watch, or restarting the phone won't have any impact on the functionality of the built-in GPS. Most likely you have [Expired EPO on a Garmin Outdoor Watch]
Yes, that's what I supposed, hence the phone or the app has nothing to do with it, apart from failing the EPO update, but that can happen easily. Better update the EPO file, using Garmin Express, and/or make sure the WiFi of the phone is off, and mobile data on, before you press the GPS button on the watch to start the activity.
