Hello, dear running people.
I have a question regarding Garmin Coaching plan, specifically Amy's half marathon training plan.
First of all, I am not complete beginner, just an average recreative runner who runs 3-4 time a week from 5k - 10k per training. I have decided to enter Amy's plan from the simple reason - to have some consistent, planned half marathon training plan with on which I can stick and run my trainings with some meaning instead of just running like a headless chicken.
Now, I'm pretty nerdy when it comes to plans, and I try to perform each training as it is planned, but 3rd week into Amy's plan, I am little puzzled - today I had negative split training which ended in some 8 km after I finished the session. After I looked into next week's plan, I saw that next Saturday I also have negative split run with 9 km+ of cumulative distance.
That really does not make any sense at all - I did my real-life HM training plan in the sports club in my city few years, ago and it lasted 6 months with gradual increase in distance from the 20 min runs + walks to 18 km training before the half... and 9 km distance came on schedule some 3 months in the training.
Am I missing something here? If I do 9 km negative split runs in 3rd week, what is planned for next 21 weeks?
I have noticed one more thing - since I started this plan, 3 weeks ago, my training is constantly "unproductive" with aerobic load too high, and my VO2 is dropping - which never happened when I did my own trainings.
Any thoughts and bright ideas are more than welcome.
Thank you,
Sinisa
