How do I get a manually entered activity to upload to strava automatically?

I've connected my Garmin connect profile to my strava profile so that when ever I do a bike ride or walk my Garmin uploads automatically to both.  This works.

However I've just started rowing and the rowing machine doesn't connect to anything computer related.  So I have add this activity manually.  But then the activity only stays in my Garmin connect profile, I want it to also get uploaded into my Strava profile, but it doesn't.

I know my Strava and my Garmin Connect profiles are correctly configured because other activities get automatically add to Strava from Garmin Connect.  However those other activities are not manually added they are all from using either my Garmin bike computer or my Garmin watch.

I can add it to my Strava profile instead but I want the data in my Strava profile and my Garmin Connect profile to be linked automatically.

How do I do this?

  • How do I do this?

Manually entered activities do not sync to strava automatically, but the solution is simple - record the rowing activities with your Garmin watch.

  • The rowing machine has it's own chest strap to record my pulse rate and that is not compatible with my Garmin watch.

I know the watch takes it's own pulse rate without using a chest strap but when I'm on the bike my two Garmins show different pulse rates and are usually have about 25-30 bpm difference.

I don't trust the pulse taken from my wrist and I won't be able to see my pulse on my rowing machine is I use my Garmin chest strap.

And how does it prevent you from using your watch too, for recording the activity?

  • You can use both chest straps.
