I need to chat about why my Garmin doesn’t record correct calories

After a 2 hour workout on an elliptical machine alternating with a weight workout, my calories showed approximately 500 RESTING  and 300 active calories!!

there is a problem here and I don’t know how to fix it!

  • Set up correctly the body parameters in your user profile in Garmin Connect, sync the watch and verify that the settings propagated well also to the watch. Besides the correct gender, age, weight, and height, make especially sure you correctly selected also the Activity Class.

And then, check out, whether the heart rate signal is reliable during the entire workout. If you are not sure, try using an external chest belt HRM.

  • I was very frustrated by this.  All of my body parameters are correct.  The Activity Class was set on 6 so I changed it to 9.   Do I need to have my watch on tightly??

  • Do I need to have my watch on tightly??

Tightly enough, not to let any light entering under the watch, even when you move your arm violently, but not as tight as cutting down the blood circulation. You should also place it a few centimeters above the wrist, not directly besides it.
