Elevation metric purpose for Treadmill activity

I would like to know what is the purpose of the inclusion of Elevation Gain and Elevation Loss for the treadmill activity?

For instance, if you edit a treadmill activity, there appears options to enter values for the two.

Also, does this relate to treadmill incline? If so, what unit is appropriate for the value that would be entered there? (i.e. metres)

Lastly, I would like to suggest to add an "INCLINE %"  metric for manual entry to the treadmill activity - options could be to 1) replace elevation, 2) as an additional metric for the entire activity, or 3) as metrics for each lap (as it records per 1 kilometre).

This would make the logging of data more complete. I look forward to everyone's responses, and hopefully this will get to someone from Garmin who can implement it!
