Create a private challenge without friends?

In Garmin Connect Web if I go to challenges there's a button to create a challenge, but when I press the button I'm asked to invite friends to be able to create it.

I have no friends (pun intended), but I would still like to be able to create a challenge for myself. E.g. I would like to have a challenge to run more miles in January 2021 compare to what I did in January 2020, or a challenge to have more run activities this month compared to the previous one.

Basically, different ways of competing against my own previous metrics. Is this possible?

I'm fully aware that I don't need to have challenge in Garmin Connect to be able to do this. But having an actual challenge in Garmin Connect would gamify it more and probably inspire me more trying to achieve them.

  • You can either use Goals, or create a closed Group just for yourself. Once you add a second account to the Group (it can be a dummy inactive account, you create just for that purpose), you will be able to create Group Challenges. And, of course, you can also create Connection Challenges with the dummy account, though the Challenges in Groups offer more options than Connection Challenges.
