Corrupted Fit File Help

Former Member
Former Member

Hi,

This FIT file is corrupted. I'm getting a 1.5km activity while it should be around 7.5km.

I tried using https://www.fitfiletools.com/ which helped in the past but doesn't seem to help for this specific file.

I have also tried to use Fit File Repair Tool, but I was trying the demo version and half of the values are set to random values because of the demo version. I was able to retreive about 3.5km of the activity, but not the last half. If someone with the full version could help, it would be really appreciated so I can then upload it to garmin connect. I'll definitely consider buying the full version if someone is able to repair the file with it.

Thanks!

  • I was able to recover this file. Now shows as 7.6km - B1AA4832-fixed.zip

Unzip the file then import into Garmin Connect using the import data page.

Repaired using Fit File Repair Tool.

The Forerunner 35 seems to be the most prone to these issues, but here are some tips to help minimize the occurrence of corrupt fit files.

    • Keep the number of files in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder on the device’s file system to a minimum using these directions: Removing Recorded Activities on a Garmin Fitness Device If you delete the files in your activity folder with a Mac computer, then empty the trash folder before you unplug your device from the computer.
    • Try to avoid excessive button presses during your activity.
    • Regularly check for firmware updates.
    • If issues with corrupt files persist, contact Garmin Support.

Thank you very much, it works perfectly. I will try to keep the number of files to a minimum and also avoid pausing manually too much - which I did for this activity.

    Really appreciated!
