A walk that was recording for over 2 hours has now come up with a FIT file that says it is empty
How does that happen?
Anyone any ideas?
Thanks

Is this the error you're seeing when trying a manual upload to Garmin Connect import data page?
No it says
“We don’t support the file type you tried to import”
I have experienced a malformed fit file before for a marathon and assumed the same thing had happened but when trying to upload there is 0 KB
Yes, I see that was one I fixed 3 months ago. We can try to see if this recent fit file indeed has zero data and see if there is anything to repair. Just zip it and attach to this thread.
3 months ago that was my first marathon data, you don’t understand how devastated I was losing that, so grateful to you for last time.
This times it isn’t so much of a big deal!
I tried to upload via Dropbox but it says
unable to upload, empty files cannot be uploaded
How do I zip it?
Yep, nothing there.
How does that happen?
Did you record the activity normally with a Start, Stop, then Save? Are there any other fit files in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder on your Forerunner 35?
Yes a whole list before and one after, with various sizes. The walk yesterday was uploaded without a problem.
Strange.
Not to worry. Thank you for looking.
I paused it, and when i went to resume, the watch was at the main screen. Normally when I have left it on pause too long the autosave counts down from 30 seconds but the watch will buzz to notify the countdown but to be honest i don't recall that this happened so maybe just lost the data while it was paused. This has never happened before.
Thank you for looking.
It wasn't even necessary sending the file It is exactly zero bytes long, hence indeed empty.
Yes a whole list before and one after
Perhaps you should clear those out of the folder \GARMIN\ACTIVITY.
