How stupid is it, to put in a swimming challenge, when in most of the world pools and swim centres are closed because of covid lock down...?

You can still swim outdoors With the added benefit (if you live on the Northern Hemisphere) of boosting your immunity system with the cold water swim, being so able to resist the Covid19 infection better…

That is exactly the challenge :)

I mean it's easy to swim 1000 meters, but try doing it with closed swimming pools and frozen lakes! That deserves a badge, don't you think?

i'd guess you can "earn" all the marathon/ultra badges on a bicycle or for that matter in a car....

Not for one lousy point. Sure, in normal times it's easy to swim 1000m.I do a lot more in one session.But they never offert a challenge for swimmers of any kind in all the years I am using a Garim watch, but now?!

And in the backgroud advertising picture for the challenge they even feature a swimmer in a pool...I fell kind of mocked ;-)

Just as you say: It is no real challenge to swim 1000 meters normally.

Now with most pools closed and freezing temperatures outside it is a real challenge ;-)

Just Keep Swimming - Record an open-water swimming activity.
Make Up Your Mind - Record one swimming activity in yards and another in meters.

i for one am really happy to see that, and i really hope it is a sign of change to include also swim challenges - not just steps/run/cycle

yes, despite covid our pools are open, even thought i have to drive for a while ...

but i am sure there are also other parts of the world, where they have summer now - not our dreaded winter

I tried today air swimming in my apartment and it works fine. Next week we can earn the badge without a pool or cold water, just "air swimming". Walk and stroke the arms inside your house up to 1.000m. Stupid badges, require stupid creative actions! connect.garmin.com/.../6081694754
