2 garmin forerunner 35's with different sign in accounts are tallying activities from both on one of the accounts

I have a forerunner 35 which is working great.   I used garmin express on my pc and have the android app as well and both work fine for me.  My wife just got a forerunner 35 as well and has her own account, (separate gmail than mine).   When she syncs her android, she gets my activities as well as hers showing on the android app.   I don't seem to be having that trouble.  Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.  Garmin Express on my pc also has the same result.  Her account on garmin express shows my activities as well as hers.  Again, my does not.  Mine just shows my activities.

  • Check out both Garmin Express and Garmin Connect on the devices she uses for the syncing of her watch, and verify whether really only her own device is registered there. If you for example use the same computer for charging the devices, both watches may be registerd in Garmin Express. Or she may have both devices register in Garmin Connect on her phone.

    WE both use my pc for Garmin Express but we do have two different accounts with garmin.  However, now that you mention it, I don't think she had the problem when she was just using Garmin Connect on her phone.  I don't think it was until she charged her garmin on my computer that she ran into trouble.  I'll confirm that over the next few days.  Thanks for your feedback.  I think it may have helped.  Much appreciated.

    You have 2 different accounts, but what account credentials are entered in garmin express for each watch? Did you take care to configure 2 different user accounts for 2 different watches in garmin express? I don't remember the exact process, but when adding a second device in garmin express by default the user account from the first device is used. If you don't change it manually, both devices will be connected to the same user account.

  • I guess you mean Windows here. Do you logout from your Windows account and login with her's when you sync her watch? Many people use the same Windows account for several people and that is absolutely not recommended.

    If you switch Windows accounts it shouldn't be an issue with the user accounts in Garmin Express since each user got its own settings.

    If you share the same Windows account it is trickier and it is easy that the user accounts in Garmin Express can be messed up. It is the same with all apps. Don't share user account in computers.

    With Garmin Express it's not tricky, it's quite straightforward. Different account credentials can be set up for each device. The only issue with it is that you have to be aware of it, as it is easy to overlook when adding a new device. Anyway, credentials can be changed later as well, so that should do the trick.

    Hi and thanks.  if you are talking about individual profiles, yes, I set those up.  My weight, name, height, activity level etc.  And I did the same for my wife using her stats.  If that's what you are talking about, it did it.

    Very interesting and makes sense.  We do use the same windows account.  I am going to charge her phone on her computer which does not have garmin express on it but since she syncs her garmin with her phone, I don't think it's necessary for her to have garmin on it.  Do you agree with that.?  Actually she uses a Chromebook so I can't add garmin express anyway.  Thanks for your response

  • if you are talking about individual profiles, yes, I set those up. 

    You have set them up in Garmin Connect, but apparently you did not assign the right profile to your wife's device in Garmin Express. When you open GE, you should see two FR35 watches on the main screen, when you enter each of them and click the button Tools & Content, each of them should be assigned to the adequate Garmin Connect account. Use the button Change Account to associate the device with the right account.

    I guess my next question then is can my wife charge her garmin on her chomebook without garmin express installed?

  • If it has a USB port, then she certainly can. She can also use a charger. She just cannot install updates, and cannot sync on her Chromebook without GE, so if she encounters problems with syncing over BT to the phone, she will have no alternative. Assigning her own profile in GE on the PC would allow it.
