Repairing corrupt .fit file

Hi,

I did a run this morning for a virtual race but when I got back I found that the .fit file my watch has recorded is corrupted. I've tried uploading it to http://garmin.kiesewetter.nl/ but that says that the file is in use by another process. I use Linux so can't install MS Access in order to use the Fit File Repair Tool. Does anyone know of any other tools? Here is the file [solved]

wilscot, this will work for you - [solved]

Unzip the file then import into Garmin Connect using the import data page. Repaired using Fit File Repair Tool.

There are lots of other tools. This FIt file is repairable…

also, I have imported the activity you gave me and it shows the data and all, but is it meant to incorporate itself into the previous data sets? For example looking at the body battery it remains as uncharted.

Hi Bob, the additive repair option in FitEdit deliberately discards some data, including that which would be used to calculate the Body Battery and related metrics, in an effort to preserve the essential data while making it uploadable. I had a closer look at your file, and it appears your watch wrote a spurious lap message. I deleted it and it appears to now be uploadable. Be sure to delete the original upload first or else Garmin will complain that it's already been uploaded.

Bob, I'll have to refer you to seilogramp or Garmin Support. I think Garmin released a pretty buggy update for the Fenix watches a couple of months ago. Since then, the forums and my inbox have received an outsized number of requests from Fenix 7 and 8 owners.

Yes, mostly related to a "phantom" running session as mentioned in my post here - Help Fixing a Corrupt .FIT File

It can occur in a running activity or during the running session of a multisport activity.

Hi, I have recorded a dozen of activities with my HRM-pro, without wearing my Fenix 6S during the futsal games. Of the last 3 activities 2 couldn't be uploaded to the Garmin app. What is going wrong and how could I prevent this from happening?

Just run it through FIT File Viewer It runs in the browser and is able to fix files in a lot of cases, like yours.

After downloading the fixed .FIT, should I add manually back to the folder Activity of Garmin? Should I replace it with the same name?

If you're referring to placing the activity on the watch, I don't think this is necessary as long as it's saved on Garmin Connect.
