Activities of new joiner not showing up in Group Challenge

Maybe the title of this question answers the question, but if it does, then it is a pretty poor design.

I run a sports group, and our monthly Group Challenge rotates between cycling, running and swimming.

December’s Group Challenge is swimming, and one of my contacts who is a top swimmer finally joined the group yesterday, 23rd December.

She says that she has set the privacy of her activities to “Everyone”, and I - as one of her connections - can see them. She has swum more than 45 km this month; however, she is showing as having swum zero metres in the Group Challenge.

So my question is: do all distances logged by group members during the challenge period count towards Group Challenges (I think that they should), or only the distances logged since the person joined the group?

If it is the latter, then I would like to log a feature request for it to be changed, or at least for the group owner or challenge creator to be able to specify.

To my mind, all distances logged during the challenge period should count towards the challenge, regardless of at which point during the challenge the person joins the group.

  • I found the answer to my question: activities logged during the entire qualifying period do count, regardless of at what time during the challenge period the person joined the group, as long as the privacy on the qualifying activities is set to “My Groups and Connections”.

It turned out that she had set future activities to be “Everyone”, but not changed the privacy on the activities that she had already done. Once she did that, they counted.
