50k badge

I ran a 50k but only got a marathon badge.  How can I fix that?

  • Can you post a link to the activity?

  • I don't know how to do that,  but here's a screen shot of the activity.

  • Looks like your Garmin only gave you 31 miles which is short of 50 km by .0685596 miles or about 110 meters.

  • As  wrote, you missed it by a small bit, but since Garmin watches often under-report the distance, it wouldn't be any cheating if you edited the Activity and increased slightly the distance. You will then be awarded the 50km badge (though I am not sure whether you'll keep the Marathon badge too, in that case. Some distance badges are exclusive, others are not.)

If you want to know what the true distance really was, to avoid the cheating, then import the Activity for example to Strava, and use the distance correction there. Another possibility is exporting the activity in GPX file format, and importing it into one of countless GPX tools - most of them will tell you the true distance. Unlike Grmin watches that use the pedometer and the average stride lenght for measuring the distance in case of lost GPS signal (i.e. near obstacles, under dense vegetation, or in underpasses), the GPX tool or Strava use simple point-to-point intepolation.

  • Thanks everyone!  I did add .1 to the distance and got the ultra badge.  There was walking at various points off the trail, but since I was with a group and everyone wanted to keep their watches the same, I would hit pause.  No doubt I walked over that .1!  The system did take back the marathon badge.  So it all worked out fine!
