Which calorie burn is more accurate, Garmin or MyFitnessPal?

Is there anybody who's tested this? I suppose I could just keep track of the discrepancies and my weight and see which seems right for me. But I figured there might be a consensus here.

I only have had a few weeks experience so far, but Garmin is always noticeably higher. I was already at my goal weight when I got this tracker, but I don't want to regain what I lost so try to keep track of my calories in/out per day.

Thanks!

  • Should be identical. You may need to adjust some settings at MFP. Have a look at the following post, for the instructions:

Why, thanks again for your help, trux. I'll try that today and see what happens. (I've run across people online saying, "Just go with MFP's numbers," but this didn't make sense to me. Garmin is the one with the heart rate monitor and recognizes the effect of activity that doesn't rise to the level of a logged "activity."

At some point, I hope to get past my learning curves on these two programs. LOL

Edited to add (hours later) -- It works! Thanks for the link. I never would have thought the trick would be to tell MFP I'm sedentary. But now the calorie burn figures are within 30 of each other.
