Navigation: set course point as Lap

Hi, I would like auto-Lap to trigger every time I cross a course point in my course so I know exactly my time when I finish that segment, is that possible?

  • Not automtically, you can set the laps only manually, by pressing the lap button when passing through that point. Or perhaps there is a Connect IQ app. Try digging in the CIQ store, though I am unsure, whether controlling the laps is possbile at all, through the CIQ API.

  • I am trying at least to make the watch alert me ONLY at the course points, so I remember to hit Lap Button.

Can't recall a thread noting how to disable turn-by-turn alerts and leaving ONLY the Course Points

I doubt a bit there is such setting avaiable (may depend on the device though), but you could achieve it for example by creating and editing the Course  at plotaroute.com. When you complete the Course there, click the option DIR'NS on the lower right tool panel, and on the left panel with Direction/Notes you can then edit the data that is being used for the turn-by-turn navigtion. There, you can remove any waypoints you do not wish to have in the turn-by-turn navigation, and keeping just those that you want to keep the alerts for.

Once you completed the editing, click the option D'LOAD on the bottom-right menu and select the FIT file format - it offers then also some options for the turn warnings and course points. When downloaded, place the FIT file directly on your watch (//GARMIN/Courses)

  • GREAT, THANKS

I will try this out tomorrow morning!
