Are points awarded for coming in 1st in weekly step challenge?

No, they are not. Only from personal challenges.

I’ve done two of these weekly steps challenges. Won the second and then realized there is no points awarded - what a waste of time!

While I agree that there should be repeatable badges and points for winning weekly challenges, it’s hard to see them as a waste of time - you get bragging rights, and if that doesn’t matter to you then the walking is still exercise and so not a waste. Remember that the goal is to get exercise; the badges and points and levels are just mind tricks to get you to keep going,

I think that a good idea could be earn a badge or points if you win the weekly step challenge just to enhance the motivation to do it.
