Uploading to Garmin Express

Recently I have been unsuccessful in uploading my running/cycling activity to Garmin Express (Ver 7.1.4.0).  It shows that the Ant Stick  is connected , I click on Sync, the watch shows "transferring Data" the syncing bar just keeps moving left to right then eventually freezes.  Eventually my watch shuts down on its own with the sync bar frozen.

Why isnt the uploading working?

  • Possibly corrupt data? Try a manual upload to see if that is the case...

    • With your Garmin device connected to your computer
    • Open the drive associated with your device.

    • Look for your FIT file under the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder

If you get any message other than Import Complete, then there is a problem with the file. In that case, please zip the file and attach it to this thread. We can look at it to see what might be wrong.

I should have mentioned this in the original thread, I have a 310XT not a 920XT

  • In that case, you're going to have a problem. I had a similar problem with a 305XT awhile back. Eventually, I got the stats to transfer over however the map info must have been corrupted during the failed sync.

Another option is to just enter a manual activity with summary information.

  • If I recall when I was using my 310XT with ANT stick, there was a way to grab the FIT files, but it might be back when we used ANT agent and/or Garmin Communicator. The files were temporarily stored on the PC until synced with Garmin. Probably on a Windows 7 machine.

At this point, I would try Garmin Express on another computer before taking it any further with a factory reset of the 310XT. Even then, this might not be the resolution, so you have to be willing to lose any non-synced activities forever.
