Has your Edge 1030 ever shown your activity?

The top of the two screens show different devices.

You need a heart rate monitor connected to the Edge (you can also use your Fenix to broadcast it to the Edge), Without the HRM, it won't measure any VO₂max, and no Training Status either. Also make sure you have enabled the option Physio TrueUp in the device settings of both devices!

I only acquired the edge plus last month. This issue has been going on since summer

before acquiring edge last month, I used to run/bike with my fenix 6 on my wrist so the heart rate was being picked up through your the year.

with edge I also use the heart rate monitor. Forgot to wear it in the last couple of rides though 

just checked my watch- the physio true up is on too

....

I have done about 10 rides with it , most of it with my heart rate monitor on. No vo2 max comes up.

To get a Vo2Max value from cycling you need a power meter on your bike connected to either the watch or the Edge

However, that is no reason for why your training status should not be calculated - I get a training status for both my runs and cycling, and I don't have a power meter. Although it does say in the manual for Fenix 6 that training status changes are based on vo2Max and training load, so if you don't get a vo2Max reading that's perhaps the reason you don't get a training status.
