Stopping points during activity for different stats periods

When I go on my long hikes I get to walk through a lot of different terrain and the overall averages are not always the best representation of how I performed. I am not sure if Laps are the answer but I would like to create almost like a point durign the activity that could show me the stats up to that point or from that one to the next one.

Is Laps a good way to do it? Sometimes, when I take breaks during hike and I pause the activity I get what I think is the amount of time since the last break with a counter next to it but I could never figure out what it was.

Imagine simple hike

0 - 5.5km -> here I make a mark so that I can look at statistics of this particular period

5.5 - 10

10 - 20

20 - 30

This is about the distance but I also wonder if I could set up something about the time. For me 6h mark of walking is important moment when my legs feel tired. I would like to be able to analyse how big is my drop in performance after that time..

Yes, laps may help you, but I wonder what prevents you from analysing the drop in performance in the current state |(without laps)? You have all the data you need, or don't you? You can also (temporarely) trim the hike to any section you wish (for example the first 5km) to analyze closely, then revert it, and trim another section (for example the second 5km). Or set the auto-lap to 5km, or do it manually, or do not use any laps at all and analyse the activity at its entirety - do whatever fits your needs better.

  • I think the problem is that even if I zoom in on the charts, the stats below them stay untouched. Also it would be nice to see data like in laps.. just rows per period,..

If I use laps, are there any downsides to it, since technically I'm not using it for laps

  • Not sure what downsides you mean. Do whatever you need to get what you want. As I wrote previously, you have multiple options, so do what you find the most comfortable, and the best fulfilling your needs.
